The remittance economy is testing one of cryptocurrency’s most prominent use cases. Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin serve as intermediate currencies to streamline money transfers across borders advantages of delegation. Thus, a fiat currency is converted to Bitcoin (or another cryptocurrency), transferred across borders, and subsequently converted to the destination fiat currency without third-party involvement.
Systems of anonymity that most cryptocurrencies offer can also serve as a simpler means to launder money. Rather than laundering money through an intricate net of financial actors and offshore bank accounts, laundering money through altcoins can be achieved through anonymous transactions.
A recent 2020 study presented different attacks on privacy in cryptocurrencies. The attacks demonstrated how the anonymity techniques are not sufficient safeguards. In order to improve privacy, researchers suggested several different ideas, including new cryptographic schemes and mechanisms for hiding the IP address of the source.

Shiba Inu produces its own wallet software that is available for download on its website, which allows you to store Shiba Inu on your computer. For maximum security, you can store your cryptocurrencies on a dedicated hardware wallet such as a TREZOR wallet or a Ledger Nano X. If you do not wish to buy a hardware wallet, you may consider using a mobile wallet such as Atomic Wallet, Jaxx, or Coinomi to store multiple cryptocurrencies with some added security benefits.
Shiba Inu is an Ethereum-based altcoin (a cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin) that features the Shiba Inu—a Japanese breed of hunting dog—as its mascot. Shiba Inu is widely considered to be an alternative to Dogecoin; in fact, proponents of Shiba Inu have touted it in the past as “the Dogecoin killer.”
While the energy use of Ethereum remains high, the upcoming Ethereum 2.0 merge will see it shift from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake consensus. PoS requires far less energy than PoW, with the top PoS networks drawing only between 70-700 GWh per year.
SHIB has been one of the most volatile crypto assets in 2021. It started around May 11, when SHIB’s price rose 1,953% to $0.00003532 from $0.00000172, although it plummeted quickly to $0.00000793 in the next three weeks.
These long strings of numbers, both in terms of tokens owned and the price per token, make calculation difficult. As such, some SHIB investors multiply their holding of SHIB tokens by an optimistic future price of $0.01 per SHIB or even $1, mostly just for simplicity’s sake.
Investing in cryptocurrencies is risky enough because of their massive volatility and lack of regulation. Investing in the altcoin/meme coin space presents an additional challenge because of a lack of differentiation and the fact that most of their value is based on trading by their followers. Here are some investing considerations for a potential investor in Shiba Inu.

Influencer Haliey Welch, who shot to internet stardom this year thanks to a particularly viral interview clip, is pushing back on accusations that “HAWK,” the cryptocurrency she helped launch this week, is a scam after its price plummeted. Welch said on X that she and the people behind the coin have not sold any of their holdings.
$HAWK launched on December 4 at 5 pm EST. According to analysis from TRM Labs, it had an initial market capitalization of $490. Within a matter of hours, the value plummeted by 91% and the market cap dropped to $41.7 million. About 10 days later, the value of the token was essentially zero.
Welch has touted the launch of “HAWK,” promoting it in several posts across X this week. In an interview with Fortune, she said she used to think of crypto as “just a scam” and an “easy way for you to lose money.” However, she said she began seeing it as a “good way to interact with fans” after attending several cryptocurrency conferences.
Her manager told the Hollywood Reporter in July that she was unique in not having sought out internet fame, having been off social media for mental health reasons for several months before appearing in the now-viral “Hawk Tuah” video.
